The emerging Sri Lanka consumer is examined from the demographic, economic, social and cultural perspectives. The country's ageing population, which is unparalleled in the region, the rise in the proportion of females in the population, along with the increasing participation of females in the work force, and the changing life styles of the youth etc., presents the need for the re-ordering of market segments and development of new products. There is evidence of economic growth in many sectors, over the past two decades, although setbacks were witnessed during the period. |
