"Sri Lanka is a land of Festivals. Being a multi ethnic, multi religious country we have a large number of festivals. The major festivals of Sri Lanka are declared public holidays. To Buddhists, the four phases of the moon are considered Poya Days. Out of these. The Full Moon Days are Very Special. On these days it is stated that the four guardian gods Dratharashta, Virudha, Virupaksha, and Vaishravana gather information about people to the Deva Sabha where Sakra the King of Devas discuss the merits of the people. For Hindus, I have chosen three important festivals. They are the Thai Pongal, Maha Siva Rathri, and Deepavali. Muslims as a community pay attention to great detail in conducting their ceremonies. The most important ones are Milad - UN - Nabi (Prophet Mohammed's Birthday, Ramzan (ID-UL-FITR) and ID -UL-ALHA) or Hadji. As for Christians it would be Good Friday, Easter Sunday and of course Christmas."
